STEM CELLS TREATMENT FOR FIBROMYALGIA…

With stem cell therapy being used for a number of medical condition it was no surprise to stroll across a website that said they are now using it to treat Fibromyalgia.

Apparently the cell searches out and in fact detects and then attempts to repair any damage or deficiency discovered, as well as releases growth factors, which stimulate the body’s own repair mechanisms.

http://www.medra.com/ say they have treated over 2000 patients with stem cells and explain what the medical procedure involves.

‘A medical procedure whereby Human Fetal Stem Cells are transplanted into a Fibromyalgia patient These cellular building blocks are usually administered intravenously and subcutaneously (under the skin) It is a painless procedure, which takes place in approximately one hour, and has no known negative side effects.’

They say that ‘significant positive change are seen between three to six months post treatment, but can occur in as little as weeks or even days after receiving treatment’.

Another blog well worth a read on stem cell is http://repairstemcell.wordpress.com/2010/02/02/fibromyalgia-and-stem-cell-treatment/comment-page-1/#comments

It has a really interesting story of someone who has been treated with stem cells for his Fibromyalgia.

  8. Stem cells are the body’s “master” cells. They create all other tissues, organs, and systems in the body and are the building blocks of your blood and immune system. They are valuable in medical procedures because they can replicate into:

Red Blood Cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body
White Blood Cells, which fight infection, and
Platelets, which aid in clotting in the event of an injury
The ability of certain stem cells (for example, hematopoietic stem cells) to differentiate, or change into other types of cells in the body holds significant promise for improving the treatment of some of the most common diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and Parkinson’s disease, just to name a few.

Cord blood stem cells are unique in their properties as compared to all other stem cell sources such as bone marrow, peripheral blood, and embryonic stem cells.
