CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS TO HELP PREVENT OSTEOPOROSIS…

If like me you have taken calcium supplements to help prevent osteoporosis then it would come as a surprise to you as well as me that you can get all the calcium you need from half a pint of semi-skimmed milk, a pot of yoghurt and an ounce of cheese.

Research has apparently shown that although moderate amounts of calcium are essential for bones and teeth, having more than this is of no benefit.

The studies showed that women who consumed 750mg of calcium a day have a similar risk of osteoporosis as those who take in excess of 1,135mg a day.

Other sources of calcium are found in tinned fish and green vegetables.
