Feldenkrais offers a unique and practical way to realise our potential more fully. It is a system of physical education that is designed to encourage body awareness, improve flexibility and enhance well being. Sometimes gentle manipulation is also used.

It is named after its originator, Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984), an engineer and physicist as well as a Judo teacher. http://www.feldenkrais.co.uk/

What are the benefits?
• Relief from tension and muscular pain
• Easier and fuller breathing
• Greater relaxation and well-being
• Improved performance in sport, dance, music and drama
• Greater ease in everyday activities
• Increased vitality

  1. Seems a very good system. I’ve got an appointment with my physio because my back is playing up quite a bit lately. That and my damn heel. It prevents me really getting out and walk some distances. I have always been a great walker and been quite fit.

  2. Unfortunately Hutt your heel problem will definitely be affecting your back. I could not believe the difference in my low back pain once I’d got my foot sorted, but it’s frustrating to be unable to get out as much. Let me know how you get on with your physio. Take care 🙂

  3. I just bought the book “Awareness Heals” The Feldenkrais Method for Dynamic Health.
All very strange, but since I had the heart attack in the hospital October 5th., my back has gone out, my right lung is infected with yellow stuff and my throat hurts and my left tendon has ‘reappeared.’ My heart hurts horribly too!
It happened in October, and I still have not seen the cardiologist since he did the heart catheterization and found my arteries are all clear. I am due to see him February 15th. What a long time to wait! The only time we went there, his office was loaded with humanity, almost nowhere to sit in that huge room. Just awful!
Anyway, I am taking hypnosis lessons, the teacher is so good, and ‘takes me away for twenty mintutes’ out of the teaching hour. I am studying The Silva Mind Control Method and have three CD’s from the hypnotist. so, now with good old Feldenkrais, (what a name!) I should be well taken care of. (we should hope anyway!)
I left you a message in your blog message. Please go ahead and feel free to post those funnies. They will cheer a lot of people up and take away their pains for at least awhile.
    Love: JW XX
