STRETCHING EXERCISES FOR BACK PAIN…

Fitness bands

Did you know that our bodies utilize 430 muscles to co-ordinate in order to move. Consequently if some of them become stiff because we are not using them, then pain can develop.

However stretching your muscles a couple of times a day can help to alleviate that problem.

To help beat backache, stretch the top of your back every evening. The pectoral muscles, which are located on the upper chest, connect your arms to your trunk and help you push things and easily performing movements which include your arms and shoulders.

Stretching the chest may be one of the best exercises you can do for your body, since most of us spend much of our time hunched forward. Resistance bands are becoming more and more popular and are available from most sporting shops and good departments stores. Your first port of call should be to see a Physiotherapist who would show you the correct ways to use your bands for your particular type of back problem.

The NHS website also has details and a video on exercises for a healthy back http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Backpain/Pages/Backexercises.aspx

  1. I do a ten minute stretching routine just about every morning. I have done this since my daugher was born 37 years ago, and I attribute these exercises to much of my wellbeing:) Thank you Barbara.xx

    1. That’s amazing Janet, I’m quite sure you are right about the way it has attributed to your well being. Thanks for sharing, this should promote others to have a go. I gave my daughter my exercise band for her exercise classes but I think I will buy another one as they gave me some I could do sitting down. :)x

    1. I gave mine to my daughter for her exercise classes but after what Janet has said I think I will buy another as the ones they gave me to do I could do sitting down and should really do them. You keep it up as much as you can and you will definitely benefit in the end hutt. Take care 🙂

  2. Everyone can benefit from stretching, especially those who are working with their personal computer everyday (including myself). Hehe. Doing regular stretching would help prevent future occurrences of back pain, and it can also help promote better blood circulation after having sat for so long. So go and practice stretching! 🙂
