HOW TO STORE YOUR AROMATHERAPY OILS…

aromatherapy oils

Try to store your oils in a dark amber glass bottle, this will store it better. If they are stored in a clear or plastic bottle they will deteriorate in about 8 weeks.

Always store away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dark place is best. If stored correctly they could last up to one year.

To make your oils go further, add five to 10% of wheat-germ oil, as it helps to preserve the mixture.

Before you massage ALWAYS do a patch test first to check you are not allergic to it.

Always wash your hands when you have finished the massage.

    • It was researching this that I also realised why my perfume’s have lost their smell. I’ve had them sat in the sun but fortunately I have always kept my oils in a dark cool place so they are fine.

  1. OK have noted what your recommend. Exciting isn’t it? Most of the oils in the Herbal shops that I have seen are in the dark bottles I see why now. I didn’t know about the wheatgerm oil though….

    • No, I didn’t know about the wheatgerm either and plan on getting some when I go to town tomorrow. I’ve been storing mine right as my Aromatherapist told me to keep them in a dark cool place.I’ve also realised that my perfumes are definitely in the wrong place. I now know why they have hardly any smell left in them !!!!!
