1.We all get more aches and pains as we get older, I think I have that, too – I’m always tired/
2.Maybe you just need a job or hobby to take your mind off the pain.
3.My GP says Fibromyalgia isn’t a real disease.
4.If you got more sleep, you’d feel better.
5.You look to well to be sick.
6.I read about a new cure for Fibromyalgia.
7.At least it’s not life threatening.
8.You just need to exercise more.
9.It’s all in your head.
10.You don’t look sick.

  1. I say some of these things to myself…..it’s very frustrating at times and you feel like poeople don’t believe you.
    My mum is 84 and full of arthritis, can hardly walk, needs her disability truck and sticks to get around, if I take her out, which isn’t very often I have to push her in a wheelchair and it knocks me back a week to get over it – she cannot and will not accept the fact that I’ve got problems so young (well, yound to my mum, I’m 47)! She dismisses it!
    I’m having a really bad week this week – gotta be the weather…hope you are well barb! xx

  2. Hi Sue,I’m the same as you Sue, some believe others don’t and my daughter (28) has also just been diagnosed so at least we can moan together. The weather at the moment is most definitely having a big impact on my Fibro, you take care Sue xx

  3. Very insightful. I remember being in acupuncture school and learning that fibromyalgia was taken as a joke or just a “disease in your head”, until a few years later when pharmaceutical companies began making a medications for it. Then that’s when it began receiving attention. But back in the 90’s until probably 2008 many unfortunate sufferers where turned away from receiving the proper health treatment. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for sharing Barb!
