A new type of painkiller ‘Palexia SR’, being used for chronic pain hit our shores in May 2011.
It’s a dual-acting pain killer which GP’s say has fewer side effects than other conventional drugs.
It can help reduce two types of pain, tissue pain, which is what you would feel if you cut yourself and neuropathic pain, due to nerve damage.
Importantly ‘Palexia SR’, seems to be far better on gastrointestinal side effects, including constipation, nausea and vomiting.
With an estimate of around twenty percent of adults in the UK suffering from chronic pain, back pain being top of the list, its essential that we find a good drug to treat us.
Apparently, GP’s still remain unsatisfied with the current treatment options for people with chronic pain and yet I’ve not personally been offered this treatment nor have I read nor know anyone else who has tried it.
Could the answer be the cost of the drug?
