Many people think of basic stretches as a way to get warmed up before doing more strenuous exercise. And of course, moving the muscles in your arms and your legs and your back can be a way to get lose before you run, before you swim, before you bicycle.

But key stretches and exercises—gentle, warming—can be of use for something more important: back pain. Just a few minutes each day, working the core, stretching muscles that may be tied up in hurting the back, may benefit you if you are suffering.
