Turmeric is increasingly being used in formulas for back and arthritic problems. Many people report that turmeric can help, but it’s important to choose a high potency turmeric product. And recent studies have shown that turmeric may also help people with bloating and digestive discomfort.
Tumeric is safe to take long term and Nature’s Best have the High Potency capsules at 10,000 mg. We often see and read about different herbs that can help with pain and arthritis but not all of them come up to scratch. However my twin sister who suffers from severe inflammatory arthritis was in so much pain she felt it was worth a try.
After only 10 days of taking the Nature’s Best High Potency capsules she felt the benefits. Taking a sweater over her head was very painful and uncomfortable and yet she could easily take her sweater off after such a short period of being on Tumeric. She was so impressed that she rang me to tell me to try them. Although some of my spinal problems are mechanical I do have arthritis in my facet joints.
They are not expensive at only £14.95 for 60 capsules and with the potency being so high you only need to take one a day. According to Arthritis Org “several recent studies show that turmeric/curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties and modifies immune system responses. A 2006 study showed turmeric was more effective at preventing joint inflammation than reducing joint inflammation.
A 2010 clinical trial found that a turmeric supplement called Meriva (standardized to 75 percent curcumin combined with phosphatidylcholine) provided long-term improvement in pain and function in 100 patients with knee OA.
In a small 2012 pilot study, a curcumin product called BCM-95 reduced joint pain and swelling in patients with active RA better than diclofenac, an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).”
I can’t wait for mine to arrive and will post how I get on with them on this blog.
Most arthritic patients are pensioners too who cannot really afford to buy such products.

Hi Hutt, we were only talking about this yesterday and apparently it works just as well if you add the powder version of it to warm milk. I need to find out how much though 🙂

I’ve been enjoying turmeric with steamed milk and a few other spices, including cinnamon and black pepper. Found recipe in the New York Times Magazine 2 weeks ago. Thanks for this info on the capsules!

Hi, Thanks for this as you can see from my previous reply I had only just found out that you can also take it in warm milk. How much tumeric do you put in your milk and is it a cup size or mug size? Barbara
