The sweet spot for sleep isn’t 8 hours?
Yes, you heard that correctly.
According to a major new study from the University of Cambridge and Fudan University, we should all be aiming for 7 hours’ sleep (once we reach adulthood). To read the full study click here.
With 40% of UK nationals struggling to nod off, here’s how to get the best night’s rest to clear your brain fog. Researchers discovered that both too much and not enough sleep could cause mental health problems and “worse cognitive performance”
The study also found that consistency mattered – so it’s no good getting nine hours one night then six the next.
The researchers speculate that one reason for the “brain fog” caused by lack of sleep is that slow-wave deep sleep is disrupted, which may also stop the brain from clearing out toxins. They also found that the brain’s “memory centre”, the hippocampus, is affected by both an excess or a deficit of sleep. As yet, scientists are unsure why sleeping for too long causes a similar effect to not getting enough shut-eye. For most of us, however, it’s a definite case of “not enough”.
The NHS estimates up to one in three people in the UK will suffer from insomnia, with middle-aged and elderly people suffering the most. During the pandemic, sleeplessness has more than doubled, from 20% of the population to more than 40%. More than two-thirds who are in “poor health” suffer insomnia and half of us wake up feeling exhausted.
One way to improve your sleep is to block out blue light for around 1 hour before you go to bed. Do Not Age’s Blue Light Blockers are designed to boost both your eye health and your sleep quality. They were created with safety in mind and proudly contain the CE safety mark.
Your body produces melatonin when it thinks it is time to go to bed, which is related to light exposure.
As we all have artificial light well into the evening, our melatonin production is affected, which in turn affects our sleep quality. Ageing also affects melatonin production, meaning sleep quality is reduced even further the older you are.
Supplementing long-term directly with melatonin can prevent your body from creating its own melatonin, so not what we want.
Do Not Age has spent a lot of time and effort to create the perfect product to ease you into a great night’s sleep, and leave you feeling refreshed the next day.
SureSleep® helps your body to naturally create more of its own melatonin, safely inducing sleep and fighting fatigue.
Each capsule contains:
400mg SureSleep®
(Prunus Cerasus, Rhodiola Rosea, Valerian Root)
