I was kindly sent this Dragonfly CBD Body Moisturiser to test. With a lot of CBD products on the market now it is quite unique to find a body moisturiser with CBD in it, so I was keen to give it a try. I will always write an honest review and if the product does not help with my pain then I will tell you this.

It arrived beautifully packed and in its own box. The moisturiser was easy to apply and had no specific scent.

The day I tried Dragonfly CBD Moisturiser I was having muscular problems under my shoulder blades after doing a bit of gardening. It had really irritated my neck and even though I was taking my usual pain medication I was still in a lot of pain, so I asked my husband to rub some moisturiser into that particular area. After about half an hour I could feel the pain easing. It was amazing.

A lot of Fibromyalgia sufferers have pain down both their arms which for me is twice as painful due to my neck fusions so for a few days I massaged the moisturiser into each arm and I noticed quite a difference. There are a number of products you can buy with CBD in them and it seems to be getting more and more popular as an alternative to medication.

This is the first time I have tried any CBD skin care products and also the first time I have written a rave review on something that has truly worked for me. The Dragonfly Moisturiser comes in three different strengths and I am keen to try them all. It comes in 300mg, 500mg and 1000mg for 100ml and I am using the 300mg which cost £25.

For readers who do no know the full history of products with CBD in here is a great introduction to it…

Introduction to CBD

  1. What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, also known as “CBD”, is a compound found in the same plant that makes cannabis. It does not have any mind-altering properties, as it does not contain ‘THC’- the chemical in cannabis that causes intoxication. When someone talks about CBD Oil, they are referring to this single compound that has been extracted from the plant. CBD is famous for its therapeutic uses, with no associated psychoactive effects.

  1. How does CBD work?

CBD is thought to interact with the Endocannabinoid System, a network of endocannabinoids, cannabinoid receptors and enzymes that exists inside all of our bodies. This plays a role in homeostasis- which is when your body is internally, physically and chemically balanced.

‘Endocannabinoids’ (tiny oils and fatty substances) are produced to pass messages across your body, supporting many different bodily functions. They do this by interacting with cannabinoid receptors, which are commonly described as the ‘lock’ to the endocannabinoid ‘key’.

Cannabidiol is a kind of “phytocannabinoid”, as the prefix “phyto” refers to its plant origin. In contrast, endocannabinoids are produced by the bodies of mammals. Current studies are investigating CBD’s relationship with different cannabinoid receptors, such as where it binds to each receptor.

  1. Why is CBD so popular?

CBD has been hailed as one of the most exciting new wellness products of this century. From oils and skincare to the more out-there CBD pillows, it seems that nowadays people can’t get enough of the curious compound. Top executives from large beauty brands have even left their jobs to found CBD startups and invest in the industry. Some of your favourite celebrities might even have had a CBD-themed Baby Shower!

The popularity of CBD is undoubtedly down to the sheer amount of people that enjoy it. It’s broad range of uses- for example as a supplement, in skincare and even in food, gives consumers a wide range of possibilities for their CBD journey. CBD has also been rising in popularity due to its growing acceptance worldwide, with governments across the globe welcoming the rise of the industry. In the UK, you can even find CBD on your favourite supermarket shelves.

  1. How can you take CBD?

There are three main ways to take CBD. Firstly, you can take it sublingually, which means placing a few drops underneath your tongue and holding it for a few minutes. This has the highest absorption rate, due to the large amount of capillaries.

Secondly, you can taking it ‘topically’ with CBD skincare, or adding a few drops of oil into your moisturiser. The European Commission has recently added CBD into their database of cosmetics, recognising its anti-sebum, antioxidant, skin protecting and skin conditioning properties.

Lastly, you can take CBD orally by placing it into food or drinks. This is perfect for those that are not fans of it’s earthy taste! Adding a few drops into your coffee or meals is a great way to easily fit in your daily dose.

  1. What is the difference between CBD and marijuana?

CBD comes from the hemp cannabis plant, whereas marijuana does not come from hemp. It also contains THC which makes you intoxicated, whereas CBD does not. Marijuana does not usually contain high amounts of CBD. Our plants are carefully selected to ensure high CBD and the lowest THC possible and are processed using advanced extraction methods, making them THC-Free.

  1. Is CBD safe and legal?

According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.” In the UK and many places across the globe, CBD is completely legal. As CBD laws are constantly being updated, it’s important to check if it’s legal where you are.
